Whole & Half Shares of Pork

Every year in the fall, we open up the opportunity for customers to buy whole and half shares of pork from us. This is a wonderful way for families to stock their freezer with our delicious, farm-raised pork. This process allows customers the opportunity to customize the meat they receive, and helps connect them to the source of their food. Pork shares will be ready in the spring of 2025 (March-June). The process is pretty simple- let us know you want a whole or half share, and we raise a pig for you! Deadline to order is October 25, 2024. We've outlined the details below.

The Process

Once you let us know you want a share of pork, we raise the pig for you. This take roughly 5-7 months. You can follow us on Facebook and Instagram as we raise your pig. Two to three weeks before your pig is ready, we will email you a cut sheet. We think this is one of the best parts about ordering a share of meat from us! You get to decide how you want your meat processed. You choose the kind of sausage you want, how thick your pork chops are, etc. We believe this allows for a truly customized experience.

We then take your cut sheet and your pig to the processor. (If you wish to use a processor other than Clint & Sons, please message us about that ASAP!) When your pork is ready, you will get a call from the processor. You can pick your meat up directly from the processor, or we will happily deliver it to you. If you do not live in the Texas panhandle, but are interested in a share of pork, message us. We can arrange a way to deliver your meat.

***All prices and pounds of meat are ESTIMATES! These are to help you gain a better understanding of what to expect, but they are NOT set in stone numbers or guarantees. These numbers could go up or down depending on a variety of factors (i.e. price of feed, how heavy your pig is, how you choose to process your meat, etc.) However, we try very hard to keep them close to the estimates provided. If you have questions about these figures, message us at raftercreek@gmail.com

Pricing

Once you have your pork back, you will pay us a certain price per pound for the meat. We base our price on the hanging weight. When you get your pork back from the processor, you will get a sheet that tells you the hanging weight of your pig. The hanging weight is roughly how many pounds of meat you are taking home. (A hanging weight for a whole share is typically 180-200 lbs. of meat.)

Last year we charged $2.42/lb. We strive to keep our costs as affordable as possible; however, we only feed high quality, premium feed. We believe that great feed equals a great end product. Unfortunately, great feed costs money. While we would love to offer you a guaranteed price per pound, it is hard for us to predict feed prices. We do everything we can to keep the price affordable while not compromising the quality of your meat.

Deposits

We kindly ask for a deposit for a share of meat. Raising an animal is a very time intensive and expensive endeavor. A deposit helps us ensure a customer is truly committed to the process. You will get your deposit credited back to you when your meat is ready. Think of it as a down payment. We will take your deposit amount off of the total you owe in the spring when your meat is delivered. A deposit for a whole share is $100 and $50 for a half share. Deposits are not refundable. We will not reserve a share for you without a deposit.
